Door Systems
Linear Drive Door Opener
A linear synchronous motor that turns the door's own guide rollers into the drive.

How to access this technology
LicensedA Tractive invention, patented worldwide and available under licence for manufacture in your market. A licence includes the patented design, engineering drawings and specifications, implementation support from our engineers, and territory exclusivity where available.
Overview
Tractive's patented linear synchronous drive replaces springs, chains and cables with direct electromagnetic propulsion, transforming a 40-year-old industry standard.
The Linear Drive Door Opener applies linear synchronous motor technology to the garage door. Instead of lifting the door through springs, chains and cables, the system transforms the guide rollers into electromagnetic motors that propel the door directly.
By removing the mechanical linkages that conventional openers depend on, the design dramatically reduces manufacturing complexity, simplifies installation and improves reliability — for residential and commercial applications alike.

Features
Engineered capability.
- 01
Linear synchronous motor
Fluctuating electric fields repel magnets to propel the door directly, without mechanical linkages.
- 02
Guide rollers become motors
The guide rollers are transformed into electromagnetic motors, enabling direct linear propulsion.
- 03
No high-tension springs
Springs, chains and cables are eliminated, removing the hazards associated with high-tension springs.
- 04
Individual panel control
Programmable operation with control of individual panels and smart-home integration capabilities.

Benefits
What it delivers.
- 01
Fewer components
Eliminates 70% of traditional components, including springs, chains and cables.
- 02
Faster installation
Installs in minutes rather than hours and requires zero headroom clearance.
- 03
Lower manufacturing cost
Reduces manufacturing costs by 50% while improving performance and reliability.
- 04
Safer operation
Enhanced safety through the elimination of high-tension springs.
“We were told it was impossible. So we made it possible. We are able to reduce the number of components in a door by 70%.”
